Perfect for Stock

Spring is one of the most beautiful times of year, especially in Flagstaff, Arizona. Everything is coming back to life, and color returns to the grass and trees. My favorite part about this season are the Pink Cherry Blossom trees that can be found all over Flagstaff. They're gorgeous pink flowers that pepper the tree and makes the city look absolutely stunning.

It was around this time that my photography professor at Northern Arizona University assigned us a project to understand what stock photography is and to create an image that fits this criteria. Stock photos are well-developed images of common events, places, and items that are used for commercial purposes. These pictures can then be found in a photo database and are used for greeting cards, brochures, websites, and just about anything else you have ever seen that uses photos to get their message across. Most of my pictures fall under this broad category because they are upbeat, simple images that would be perfect for advertisement.

I turned in this photograph for the assignment because it is light and airy. It also leaves space for companies to add text or information. I also uploaded this image to a photo selling app that collects and organizes images for people or organizations to shop and purchase what they need. It's called Snapwire and I've actually sold a couple pictures on there before (one even sold for $50). You get paid a portion of the price the image sells for and it's a great way to get your name out there!
