Delphi, Greece
Delphi Theatre
This weekend I visited what the Greeks once believed to be the center of the world. Delphi or delfíni, meaning dolphin in Greek (δελφίνι), is an incredible historical site that sits up on a hill overlooking a valley (pictured above). It is where the oracle was thought to have lived. Back then, people used to go to the oracle to speak to Apollo, who's temple ruins also reside in Delphi. Delphi rests on top of two tectonic plates which creates a lot of earthquakes in this area. In fact, the oracle's visions are believed have been influenced by the gases released from the earthquakes according to the tour guide. That was about the only time I could here what she was saying on the tour because it was raining most of the time.
